Calm of Winter

This is the backyard to my new home. I love the fresh snow on the frozen lake. Just so beautiful. Go Minnesota!

Assignment reads: Create an appealing photo using landscape or Architecture image. In other words the photo can be Landscape OR architecture. The photo must represent best possible photo you are able to create. What I am looking for in this assignment is student’s ability to use all functions of camera to make an image that engages the viewer’s interest and document a sense of place. Photo’s subject must be focused properly, contain details, and document creative placement of dimensions (fore, middle, and background). The photo must have a strong composition through use of law of thirds or dominate symmetrical design. Photograph must be shot at a time of day to add interest through dramatic lighting. I am also looking for correct ISO WB and EV setting.



Good job placing the horizon to create interesting composition. You have captured a strong foreground, middle ground, and background of lake/landscape. Details are above average and camera is set properly. However, the subject matter lacks interest for the viewer. Shoot at different times of day to capture dramatic lighting. Also, try different angles.
